Encinitas, CA (February 20, 2006) - Quail Botanical Gardens will host a special concert by Brubeck Brothers Quartet on Sunday, March 26.  Sons of celebrated jazz pianist/ composer Dave Brubeck, bass and trombone player Chris Brubeck and drummer Daniel Brubeck grew up listening to, studying with, and eventually playing alongside some of the greatest jazz legends in history.  Accompanied by guitarist Michael DeMicco and John Rekevics on saxophone and flute, the Brubecks will perform classics by their father along with their own contemporary compositions.

Combining elements of straight-ahead jazz, funk, and the Brubeck tradition of playing in odd time signatures, the group’s versatility is evident on the group’s debut recording, “Second Nature,” on Blue Forest Records.

While they are in San Diego, the Brubeck Brothers Quartet will be participating in educational workshops with Glen Fisher’s Gomango Kids, a Point Loma-based after school music program. Gomango Kids will open the show on March 26 at 5:00 p.m.

The concert will take place on the lawn at Quail Botanical Gardens, 230 Quail Gardens Drive in Encinitas.  Admission is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 760- 436-3036 ext. 206.
