San Diego, CA, September 19, 2004,— Last night¹s Gala at Quail Botanical Gardens honored two lifelong friends and inspired gardeners, Agatha Youngblood and Adrienne Green, and by all accounts was a spectacular success.
Catered by Cilantro's by the Sea of Encinitas, the over 400 guests were treated to elegant appetizers and fine wines in the Seeds of Wonder Children's Garden, followed by ceviche and other delights in the Bamboo Garden (overlooking the pond currently filled with the blooming giant Victoria Waterplatters). In the Walled Gardens guests were served perfectly poached fresh salmon, and the lawn area by the Gazebo was crowded with guests savoring pork and beef tenderloins being grilled along with gorgeous fresh vegetables. Fresh fruit and cheeses were offered in the Herb Garden.
Music drifted throughout the garden, with KUSI's Dave Scott singing and playing trombone with the legendary Gary LeFebvre Trio. Many other talented artists entertained guests at every station.
The gloriously decorated tent welcomed guests for the final event, and provided sumptuous desserts and coffees. M.C. Alison St. John of KPBS began the festivities by welcoming the guests, followed by Randi Coopersmith, QBG's President, who was presented with a check for $2500 by John Andre, owner of Cilantro's by the Sea. This provided an excellent start to the spirite d fund-raising auction led by Channel 10 weatherman and garden guru, Loren Nancarrow.
Event sponsors included: Pacific Event Productions, Quantum Productions, Rene van Rems, Inc., Cilantro's by the Sea, William Rawlings, DDS and Frances Hamilton White. For a full list of sponsors, click here: Club Q Sponsors
